Obama Appoints Mary Schapiro

Barack Obama has named Financial Industry Regulatory Authority chief executive Mary Schapiro as chairwoman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Schapiro is a former SEC commissioner who also headed the commodity futures trading commission and is now the head of Finra, which inspects U.S. brokerage firms, writes rules for those selling securities and imposes sanctions as well.-Daily Deal/The Deal
