General Atlantic appointed Robert Callahan as a special adviser to the firm. Callahan previously served as CEO of Ziff Davis Media. He also served as president of ABC.
The firm also tapped Dinyar Devitre as a special adviser. Devitre served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Altria Group from 2002 to 2008. He was executive vice president at Citigroup and Citibank in Europe from 1998 to 2001. General Atlantic announced that John D. Bernstein has joined GA as a managing director in its London office. Mr. Bernstein has been an investor in the private equity industry in Europe since 1995. He has relationships with advisors in the region and has led or co-led investments in fourteen companies, including MACH, Aircom International, CAMS, Bookham Technology, Cordena Call Management, Cybercity, EUnet International, Jazztel and Tertio. In this role, Mr. Bahl will provide industry expertise and strategic counsel to GA and its portfolio companies. General Atlantic announced that Ranjit V. Pandit will join GA as a managing director in the firm’s Mumbai, India office. Mr. Pandit was most recently the chairman of McKinsey & Company, India. He joined McKinsey in August 1980 and as a co-founder of McKinsey’s India office transferred from New York to Mumbai in January 1993. -PR Newswire
General Atlantic announced that, effective September 1, 2007, Jeff X. Leng will join the company as a managing director in the firm’s Hong Kong, China office. Mr. Leng has been an active investor in the private equity industry in China since 1999, and has deep relationships with entrepreneurs, executives, experts, advisors, government officials and regulators in the region. He has served on the boards of directors of Hayao Group, China Hui Yuan Juice, GUM Holdings, and Lepu Medical. Mr. Leng will work closely with the company’s Hong Kong-based investment team, including managing director Vince Feng, who will transition to a senior advisory role at the end of the year.
