Macquarie Capital Appoints Sanjay Agarwal

Macquarie Capital announced the appointment of Sanjay Agarwal as its head of equity capital markets in India.

Agarwal, who has more than 11-years of financial services experience, has joined from Edelweiss Capital where he was involved in a large number of fund-raising exercises and structuring innovative products. -Asia Pulse

Randy Reiff, Mark Lebowitz, James Conopask, Simon Breedon, Matthew Weinstein and Andrew Flack Join Macquarie Group

Macquarie Group’s fixed income, currencies & commodities group announced the expansion of its credit trading division with the addition of a commercial mortgage finance and CMBS team and its new members.

Randy Reiff joins as a managing director and head of the commercial mortgage finance and CMBS team.

Mr. Reiff brings 18 years of experience in investing, structuring and trading in the commercial real estate and mortgage industry. Most recently he was president of Spartan Real Estate Capital.

Mark Lebowitz and James Conopask join as managing directors.

Mr. Lebowitz brings 17 years of experience in commercial real estate securitization and capital markets. Previously, he was director of capital markets at Spartan Real Estate Capital, having joined from JPMorgan and Bear Stearns where he served as head of CMBS capital markets and new issue structuring.

Mr. Conopask brings 18 years of experience in commercial real estate credit underwriting and investing. He joined the firm from JPMorgan and Bear Stearns where he headed institutional credit for the firms’ large loan commercial mortgage groups.

Simon Breedon and Matthew Weinstein join as senior vice presidents.

Mr. Breedon has 9 years of experience in commercial real estate and investment banking, most recently with Spartan Real Estate Capital and prior to that as a senior member of JPMorgan and Bear Stearns commercial mortgage finance groups’ institutional credit teams.

Mr. Weinstein has 6 years of experience in commercial real estate finance and CMBS trading. He joins from Spartan Real Estate Capital where he was responsible for CMBS trading and investments.

Andrew Flack joins as an associate.

Mr. Flack joined from JP Morgan and Bear Stearns where he was a member of the firms’ commercial mortgage finance group’s institutional credit teams. -Business Wire

Robert Faitell To Join Macquarie Group

Macquarie Group’s energy markets division announced that Robert Faitell will join as a senior managing director and head of Americas sales and origination in the firm’s New York office, effective July 2010.

Mr. Faitell brings over 20 years of energy banking and commodities derivative experience to Macquarie. He will join Macquarie from Morgan Stanley’s commodities group, where he was most recently managing director and head of corporate client coverage for the Americas. -Business Wire

Macquarie Announces Resignation of Benoit Savoret as European Head, Effective Immediately

Macquarie’s new European head, Benoit Savoret, has resigned after just a month. Macquarie has bought energy and banking- focused boutiques and a Germanc ash-equities business, and hired a string of senior bankers. Mr. Savoret, a Lehman Brothers and Societe Generale veteran, resigned with immediate effect. He joined on 1 March. -The Independent (London)

Macquarie Group Appoints Benoit Savoret

Macquarie Group appointed former Lehman Brothers executive Benoit Savoret as the head of its European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) division. Savoret will also take charge of the Macquarie Securities group for the EMEA region.

Savoret was with Lehman Brothers for more than 10 years, and was last serving as Lehman’s chief operating officer in Europe and the Middle East. -AAP Newsfeed

Macquarie Group Hires Robert Bertagna

MacquarieMacquarie Group announced that it hired former Barclays co-head of industrials Robert Bertagna to lead its industrials investment banking effort in the United States.

Bertagna will start at the Australian investment bank in March, based in New York. His title will be senior managing director and head of industrials in the United States.

Bertagna has been at Barclays since the bank bought Lehman Brothers main U.S. brokerage in September 2008. Before that he was at Lehman for eight years and eventually led their global industrials team.

Macquarie Group Appoints Stephen Allen

Macquarie GroupMacquarie Group announced that it has appointed Stephen Allen as head of Macquarie’s risk management group and a member of its executive committee. He will replace Nick Minogue, who is to retire, effective 30 November, 2009.

Macquarie Capital Appoints John Dwyer and Peter Zillekens

MacquarieMacquarie announced that John Dwyer, formerly with Goldman Sachs, has been appointed a managing director at Macquarie Capital, where he joins the European equity capital markets team. He will be based in London.

Macquarie Capital has also announced that Peter Zillekens, a former director with Merrill Lynch, has come on board as a managing director in Germany. He will be based in Frankfurt. -The Times (London)

Macquarie Group Announces Management Changes

macquarie.jpgMacquarie Group appointed three senior executives from Lehman Brothers Holdings, expanding its North American capital markets and advisory businesses.

David Baron joined as a managing director and head of financial sponsors group in the U.S. for Macquarie Capital. He was a managing director in the principal origination and financial sponsors groups at Lehman. Michael Meyers and Sean Fitzgerald arrived as managing directors at Macquarie Capital, responsible for North American distribution for private capital transactions through capital structures including senior and junior debt, private investment in public equity and ordinary equity transactions.

At Lehman, Meyers was head of equity syndicate private placements and Fitzgerald was senior vice president, private equity syndicate. Also, in September, Timothy Gould joined as a managing director and head of U.S. equity syndicate for Macquarie Capital. Previously, he was head of U.S. equity syndicate and chairman of the equity underwriting committee at Lehman. All the appointments were in New York.-Daily Deal

Macquarie Group announced the appointment of Nicholas Moore, currently the head of Macquarie Capital, as managing director and chief executive officer (CEO), effective May 24, 2008. Mr. Moore has been appointed to the board of Macquarie Group effective immediately.

Macquarie Group Announces Executive Appointments

Macquarie Group hired Arthur Ozeki, the former co-head of mergers advisory at UBS Securities Japan, to head its investment-banking operations in Japan. The company also hired Nobuo Funabashi from Morgan Stanley as vice chairman of the Japan investment banking business. -The International Herald Tribune
