Morgan Stanley Announces Management Changes

Morgan Stanley’s head of investment banking for Asia-Pacific, Matthew Ginsburg, has resigned from the firm. Gokul Laroia and Kate Richdale would become co-heads of the company replacing Ginsburg. Laroia, who has been with Morgan Stanley for more than 14 years, was most recently a head of Global Capital Markets for Asia, while Richdale has been with the bank for nearly a decade, most recently as the CEO for Southeast Asia.

Morgan Stanley Appoints Henry McVey & Marcus Rivaldi

Mr. McVey will have portfolio management responsibilities and oversight of MSIM’s global macro and asset allocation investment team. He will also serve as MSIM’s strategist, with responsibility for articulating his market outlook and strategy to clients. Morgan Stanley has appointed Marcus Rivaldi as an executive director in fixed income research. Mr. Rivaldi will be responsible for credit analysis of European insurance companies. Morgan StanMorgan Stanley announced that it has named Michael Samaha as co-head of Middle East and North Africa sales and business development for Morgan Stanley investment management (MSIM). Mr Samaha, based in the firm’s office in the Dubai International Financial Centre, joins Nicolas Kahale, who has been leading the effort since 2006.

Morgan Stanley Named Ellyn A. McColgan President and COO

Morgan StanleyMorgan Stanley today announced that Ellyn A. McColgan has been named president and chief operating officer of the global wealth management group, effective in April, 2008. Ms. McColgan will be a member of Morgan Stanley’s Management Committee and will report to co-president James P. Gorman, whom she succeeds in the GWMG leadership role.

Ms. McColgan, 53, joins Morgan Stanley after a 17-year career at Fidelity Investments, where she served most recently as president of distribution and operations. In this position, she was responsible for the firm’s retail and institutional distribution channels as well as core processing operations in the U.S. and India, representing 21,000 employees and more than $1.5 trillion in client assets under administration. Morgan Stanley Announces Management Changes

morgan-stanley1.jpgMorgan Stanley has named Richard Portogallo and Jerome Wood to jointly run the securities firm’s sales operations. Portogallo, 48 years old, and Wood, 54, will succeed Jerker Johansson, who sits on Morgan Stanley’s management committee and who will take on the role of vice chairman, Europe.
