Jimmy Lu Joins WI Harper Group

BNY Mellon Appoints James Slater and Larry Chen

BNY Mellon Asset Servicing has appointed James Slater to the newly created role of managing director and chief operating officer for global securities lending (Mellon Global Securities Lending).

Slater will report to Kathy Rulong, executive director of global securities lending, and will provide strategic direction for core securities lending functions, including securities trading and product development. He will be based in Pittsburgh and also work out of offices in New York, London and Hong Kong.

Slater has 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and was most recently senior vice president at CIBC Mellon, a joint venture between CIBC and BNY Mellon, where he was responsible for its global securities lending, treasury and cash management operations. He was also a member of the company’s executive management committee. He has been with CIBC Mellon since its inception in 1996 and was a key contributor to the formation of the joint venture.

Slater will continue to provide strategic direction to CIBC Mellon’s securities lending program.

Avista Capital Partners Appoints Newton Aguiar, Allen Yurko, and Kunal Pandit

Avista Capital Partners announced it has formed Avista Capital Europe, based in London, and has appointed veteran private equity professionals Newton Aguiar as partner and head of the firm’s activities in Europe, Allen Yurko as an industry executive, and Kunal Pandit as a vice president in the newly formed Avista office.

Northern Trust Appoints Penelope Biggs and Peter Holman

UBS Investment Bank announced the appointment of Anthony Iliya as CEO for Middle East and North Africa.

Iliya, who will start August 1, will be based in Dubai and report to Alex Wilmot-Sitwell, group chairman and CEO EMEA and Co-CEO of UBS Investment Bank.

Barclays Wealth announced the appointment of Steve Houston as head of wealth management, Americas.
