Barclays Wealth Appoints Shajikumar Devakar

Barclays Wealth announced the appointment of Shajikumar Devakar as director in Bengaluru, India.

Devakar, who has more than 12 years of experience in financial services, will be responsible for developing and servicing high net worth clients in Bangalore and the region. In addition, he will also manage a team of private bankers in the region and will lead the business development initiatives. In this role, he reports to Vishal Jain, managing director, based in Mumbai.

Barclays Wealth has appointed Faisal Shaker as head of wealth for Barclays Saudi Arabia (BSA).

Shaker will champion the development of the wealth management activities of Barclays Saudi Arabia ranging from wealth management activities and client service capabilities to the development and implementation of the Saudi wealth management strategy. Additionally, he will ensure that the governance framework surrounding the wealth management business in Saudi Arabia is robust and consistent with the capital market authority regulations as well as internal policies and procedures of the global Barclays Wealth. He will report to Rory Gilbert, managing director, head of MENA for the international private bank.

Barclays Wealth Appoints Andy Rowsell

The Cardiff office of Barclays Wealth has expanded its team with the appointment of Andy Rowsell as a senior private banker.

In his new role, Rowsell will work with the team in Barclays Wealth’s Cardiff office to provide new and existing clients with the full range of banking, investment and wealth advisory solutions.

Rowsell has 28 years of experience in private banking. He joins Barclays Wealth from Coutts & Co, where he was instrumental in helping to establish and develop its regional business in South Wales over the past 13 years.

Barclays Wealth Management has appointed Paul Fleming as head of strategic partnerships, focussing on strengthening relationships with key business introducers.

In his new role, Fleming will head Barclays Wealth’s drive to strengthen relationships with the accountancy and legal firms across both the bank’s UK and Ireland private bank and international division, alongside its wealth advisory arm. Barclays Wealth Appoints Jack Broderick, Bill Belleville, Michael Gordon, Scott Madison and Jonathan Sopher

Barclays Wealth Management has appointed five investment representatives to its New York office.

Jack Broderick and Bill Belleville have been named as managing directors.

Broderick joins the company after 15 years at Credit Suisse Private Banking AG, most recently as a relationship manager in private banking. Prior to Credit Suisse, he had managed the execution services desk at Lehman Brothersfor seven years.

The company also added Michael Gordon, Scott Madison and Jonathan Sopher as advisors in New York.

Gordon and Madison join as directors from Credit Suisse Private Banking, where they specialised in serving high net worth families and individuals, family offices, and private foundations for three years. Gordon has earlier worked for six years in the private client group of Jefferies & Co, while Madison has formerly worked in the markets coverage group in Goldman Sachs’s private Bank and in Jefferies’ private client group.

Barclays Wealth announced that it has added Joseph Danowsky as a managing director and head of solutions for the Americas.

Barclays Wealth Management has appointed Januar Tjandra as head of Greater China, effective December 5. He will be based in Hong Kong.

A former Goldman Sachs banker, Tjandra will have overall responsibility for the Greater China coverage teams in Hong Kong. He will report to head of North Asia, Pakorn Boonya-kurkul.

Barclays Wealth Management appointed Fabian Neo as head of foreign exchange advisory, Asia.

Neo provides strategic leadership to the teams in Hong Kong and Singapore, oversees foreign exchange advisory services, and handles the execution of related products.

Neo joined Barclays Wealth Management from Credit Suisse, where he was regional head of North Asia advisory. Moving to Hong Kong, he led onshore foreign exchange product developments in China and Japan.

The company also appointed Chi Lee as director, head of active advisory and investment solutions, North Asia.

In addition to managing the Hong Kong active advisory team, Lee will work closely with the North Asia market head and regional bankers.

Barclays Wealth Management announced the addition of six investment representatives.

Glen Darby joins Barclays Wealth as a director and an investment representative from Merrill Lynch’s private banking and investment group, bringing over 28 years of experience to the firm. He is based in the Boston office.

Darby joined Merrill Lynch in 1983, where he specialized in serving ultra high net worth individuals including corporate executives, venture capitalists and hedge fund managers.

Matthew Grady also joins as a director and an investment representative from Old North Advisors, where, in his role as CEO, he successfully led the spin-off of the discretionary asset management business from Federal Street Advisors. He is also based in the Boston office.

Barclays Wealth Management named Amaury Hendrickx as director and Jad Fadl as vice president in the strategic solutions group, which serves UHNW clients by leveraging the capabilities of Barclays Capital and Barclays Corporate.

Barclays Wealth Management announced the appointment of Rory Gilbert as managing director, head of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for international private banking. He replaces Soha Nashaat, who has moved to a senior client relationship and strategic advisory role for Barclays Wealth in the MENA region.

Sara Mi was appointed director, active advisory, Southeast Asia, on 1 March 2011. She is based in Singapore. She joined from HSBC Private Bank.

Michelle Le Herissier was appointed director, head of Barclays Wealth Trustees (Singapore), on 15 March 2011. Michael Burke Joins Barclays Wealth Management

Barclays Wealth Management announced that Michael A. Burke has joined the firm as a managing director and regional manager of its Washington, D.C. office.

In this newly-created role, Burke will manage all aspects of the DC office and grow Barclays Wealth’s business in the DC metro area and Mid-Atlantic region. He will report to Steve Houston, head of wealth management.

Burke brings extensive wealth management experience to his new position, including over 15 years in sales management. Most recently, he was head of Deutsche Bank Alex Brown, the U.S. private client services division of Deutsche Bank and a member of the board of directors of Deutsche Bank Securities. Prior to that, he worked at Morgan Stanley for 17 years, serving in several senior sales roles including director of national sales and regional director for the Southern U.S. Hee began his career as a fixed income specialist at Smith Barney before becoming a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley.

Barclays Wealth Management Names Brian Sears

Barclays Wealth Management has named Brian Sears as a managing director and regional manager for Los Angeles.

Sears will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Los Angeles branch and growing its regional business. He will report to Steve Houston, head of wealth management, Americas, who oversees the regional branch offices and investment representatives network.

Sears joins the bank from Neuberger Berman in New York, where he was most recently global co-head of distribution for alternative investments. -Global Banking News

Barclays Wealth Management has named Caroline Simko as managing director and head of global research and investments marketing.

In her new role based in New York, Simko will be responsible for leveraging company’s intellectual capital and its global product offering in support of client service, business development and strategy.

Donald Gershuny and Peter Reynolds Join Barclays Wealth

Barclays Wealth Management announced that Donald Gershuny has joined as a managing director and general counsel, Americas. Peter Reynolds has joined as a managing director and chief risk officer, Americas.

Gershuny brings to his role broad regulatory and banking experience, accumulated over four decades in financial services, including 34 years at Merrill Lynch. Most recently, he served as general counsel for global wealth management at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was responsible for all legal, regulatory and compliance services for wealth management.

Reynolds, who has a wide range of banking and regulatory experience, focused on risk. For the past three years, he served as head of regulatory risk and compliance for RBS Americas. Prior to that, he worked at Citigroup for a decade in several risk positions including global head of risk and control for the private bank. -PR Newswire

Barclays Wealth Management Appoints David Lewis

Barclays Wealth Management announced the appointment of David Lewis as managing director and head of banking, Americas.

In this newly created position, Lewis is responsible for the regional banking platform. He leads the continued build-out of the firm’s regional banking products and services, such as cash management, credit and debit cards, transactional banking, savings accounts and client household programs.

Lewis has more than 20 years of banking and trust experience, including most recently as head of banking products, Americas at UBS, where he oversaw all regional banking-related business including savings deposits, residential mortgages and credit cards. Barclays Wealth Management Appoints Thelma Kwan

Barclays Wealth Management announced the appointment of Thelma Kwan as head of wealth advisory, Asia Pacific.

Based in Hong Kong, Kwan will head the team of trust consultants in Hong Kong and Singapore, and oversee the provision and marketing of trust structuring and wealth advisory services to Barclays Wealth high net worth and ultra high net worth clients across Asia. She reports to London-based Rob Withecombe, Barclays Wealth head of wealth advisory, as well as to Didier von Daeniken, chief executive of Barclays Wealth Asia Pacific.

Prior to joining Barclays Wealth, Kwan was at LGT Management Services where she was executive director of trust services for the past three years. In that role, she was responsible for leading a team of trust consultants in marketing trust solutions to private banking clients in Asia.

Barclays Wealth Management Announces Executive Changes

Barclays Wealth Management is boosting its alternative investments business with two additions to its private equity and hedge funds divisions.

Boudewijn Jansen will join the group as head of private equity origination.

Jansen joins from HSBC Private Bank, where he was global head of private equity in the alternative investments division.

Sarah Newman joins the group as head of hedge fund origination.

Newman joins from Credit Suisse where she worked in equity derivatives and fund linked products business for 14 years. She was previously at both JP Morgan and BNP Paribas.

Jansen and Newman will report to Thomas Fekete, the head of investment products for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. -HedgeWorld Daily News

Barclays Wealth Appoints Stefanie Drews

Barclays Wealth has appointed Stefanie Drews as managing director and head of ultra high net worth (UHNW), UK and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Ms. Drews will be responsible for continuing the buildup of the UHNW team, which works across the Barclays corporate, investment banking and wealth management business to offer bespoke banking and investment solutions for UHNW clients.

Ms. Drews joins from Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, where she spent last 13 years, most recently as a managing director in the EMEA region.

Soh Chye Guan, Errie Maksum, Rachel Loong, Sisyanti Jonosisworo, Nilesh Thakkar and Arunabh Banerjee Join Barclays Wealth

Barclays Wealth announced that it has added six senior private bankers to its Singapore team to serve clients from South and South-east Asia.

Soh Chye Guan has joined as Singapore and Malaysia market head. Soh Chye Guan was previously senior director, Malaysia market leader, and head of the senior client partner team at HSBC Private Bank.

Errie Maksum, will join Barclays Wealth on Aug. 23 as market head of Indonesia. Maksum joins from Credit Suisse where he was director and head of the Indonesia team since 2005.

Rachel Loong will joined  Barclays Wealth as director, covering the Singapore market. Loong is a former executive director and senior client partner at Credit Suisse serving clients in Singapore and Taiwan.

Sisyanti Jonosisworo joined the bank’s Indonesia team as vice-president. Jonosisworo joins from ANZ Bank Panin in Indonesia where she was a team leader managing corporate and institutional clients.

Nilesh Thakkar and Arunabh Banerjee, joined the bank’s South Asia team as vice-presidents. Both join from UBS’s Singapore team serving NRIs in Asia. -The Business Times Singapore
