BTIG Adds Matt Biety, Matt Krebs and Peter Murphy

BTIG is strengthening its Chicago presence with the addition of three veteran traders: Matt Biety, Matt Krebs and Peter Murphy. They will report to Walter Mis, the head of BTIG’s Chicago office.

Biety joins BTIG as a director. An 18-year financial industry veteran, Biety most recently was a sales trader and director at Knight Capital. He has also traded cash equities at Jefferies & Co. and he was an equities block trader at First Union Securities (now Wells Fargo). He started his career as a futures and options trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board Options Exchange.

Krebs joins BTIG as a director. Krebs was most recently vice president of institutional sales at Knight Capital, for whom he’s worked since 2005.

Peter Murphy joins BTIG as a managing director. Murphy is a 13-year veteran of Knight Capital, where he began as a market maker and moved into sales two years later. Before he joined BTIG, he had been the manager of Knight’s Chicago office. -Business Wire

BTIG Appoints Eddie Benson

BTIG has appointed Eddie Benson as managing director and head of European sales trading.

Benson joins from Deutsche Bank, where he worked as a trader. He has also held similar roles at Rowe and Pitman and SG Warburg.

BTIG Adds Matthew Cyzer

BTIG has added Matthew Cyzer, former partner and head of European equity sales trading at Goldman Sachs in London, to will serve as president and head of European equities for the company. He will be based in London.

Cyzer will lead the equities sales and trading group and spearhead the further expansion of BTIG’s European business. He is tasked with managing its equities sales and trading business throughout Europe, planning and implementing the strategic direction and expansion of its European businesses, including its outsource trading, prime-brokerage and agency execution business, hiring professionals, and managing client services.

Cyzer has an established track record of success in European finance. At Goldman Sachs, which he joined in 2002 and became a partner in 2004, he was head of European equity sales trading and most recently ran Goldman’s European one delta execution services before retiring in 2011. Before his tenure at Goldman, he was Deutsche Bank’s head of European equity sales trading. He started his career in European equity sales at NatWest Markets. -PR Newswire

BTIG Expands High Yield and Convertibles Group

BTIG continues to expand its New York-based Fixed Income Group with the recent hires of William Freihofner, Jeffrey Gould, Kevin McDonald, Mayank Patel, and William Tillinghast.

William Freihofner joins BTIG as a director of convertible trading. Freihofner has 12 years of experience, most recently as a senior trader/vice president for BCP Securities, a sell-side emerging markets firm based in Greenwich, CT. Prior to BCP Securities, Freihofner was a senior convertible trader for McMahan Securities and has worked in the convertibles groups of JP Morgan Chase and Chase H&Q.

Jeffrey A. Gould joins BTIG as a director of high yield sales. Gould has more than 10 years of fixed income sales and investment banking experience. Gould has previously held positions in the investment banking divisions of Bear Stearns and Credit Suisse, and in the leveraged finance and fixed income sales groups at Barclays Capital. He most recently worked in fixed income sales at The PrinceRidge Group.

Kevin McDonald joins BTIG as a vice president of high yield sales. Most recently, McDonald worked for Fieldstone Capital.

 Mayank Patel joins BTIG as a managing director of convertible sales. Patel has had an extensive career, starting as an analyst with GE Capital’s financial management training program, and worked in several GE business units, including Kidder Peabody, GE Investments and GE Real Estate. After working as a convertibles securities trader for Paloma Partners and Deephaven Capital Management, Patel launched his own hedge fund, Cobra Management, in 2001. He later formed Jenum Capital, an advisory and investment firm for India-focused investors. In 2008, Patel joined Collins Stewart to co-head its Asia capital markets efforts, and he most recently managed convertible bond trading at Rafferty Holdings.

William Tillinghast joins BTIG as a managing director of high yield sales. Tillinghast will focus on high yield and distressed sales. Daniel Greenhaus Joins BTIG

BTIG announced that Daniel Greenhaus has joined as its chief global strategist.

Greenhaus is charged with aiding clients in the formulation and implementation of investment ideas through global market and economic analysis. BTIG Adds Michael S. Noonan and Drew Rymer

BTIG announced the continued expansion of its fixed income group with the addition of Michael S. Noonan as managing director and Drew Rymer as vice president.

The additions of Noonan and Rymer continue BTIG’s strategy to expand its fixed income sales and trading offering. Both join BTIG’s high yield and distressed fixed income sales group in New York.

BTIG further expanded its U.S. fixed-income sales and trading platform with the addition of seven professionals in its high-yield, high-grade, convertible debt and structured products groups.

Maydew joins BTIG from ABN Amro/RBS after seven years as a director in the event driven proprietary trading team.
