Janney Montgomery Scott announced the continued expansion of its fixed income team with new additions.

Mike Festa joins Janney as director, institutional municipal sales in Janney’s Boston office.

With nearly 25 years of experience in municipal sales, Mr. Festa began his institutional career with Dean Witter, before working for Kemper Securities and Legg Mason. He joins Janney most recently from Keybank Capital Markets.

Dan Lang joins Janney in institutional municipal sales. He will be working in Janney’s Boston office.

Mr. Lang brings nearly a decade of industry experience to Janney. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in institutional sales with Keybanc Capital Markets and Legg Mason Wood Walker.

Brian Doherty joins Janney in institutional taxable sales.

Janney Montgomery Scott Appoints Brent Giese, James Stauss, Katrina Griessman, Austin Derris and Christopher Moses

Janney Montgomery Scott named former Bear Stearns executive Brent Giese to head the firm’s newly created whole loan initiative. Joining Giese is former Bear colleague, James Stauss.

Mr. Giese and Mr. Stauss, both named managing directors at Janney, have nearly 50 years of industry experience between them. At Janney the two will team with existing financial institutions professionals to provide comprehensive loan portfolio solutions and execution for clients in the banking sector.

For 10 years at Bear, Giese was a managing director and head of the mortgage origination group. He also spent six years at both UBS and JP Morgan.

Janney Montgomery Scott Announces Management Changes

Janney Montgomery Scott announced a number of hires in New York as it expands its capital markets business. The company hired former Merrill Lynch & Co. banker Michael Solomon to head up its new York offices as a managing director. Solomon will split his time between the New York City and Albany offices. The company also hired Christopher R. Long as a director and head of its short-term institutional trading desk and Timothy M. Kelly as a director of public finance. Solomon spent six years as a banker at Merrill on deals that included transportation, education, and general obligation debt in New York, Massachusetts, and Michigan. Janney Montgomery Scott Appoints David S. Penn

Janney Montgomery Scott announced that industry veteran David S. Penn joined the firm as executive vice president and director of wealth management services. The move is the latest in series of high profile hires for Janney as the firm capitalizes on its strong market position to add top-tier talent and build on its recent growth. Janney Montgomery Scott added two managing directors to its municipal capital markets group, including one with a specific background in securitization. The hiring of Kimberly Welsh and Matthew Levin follows the growth trend started in 2008 by Janney’s capital markets division. Janney Montgomery Scott Announces New Appointments

Janney Montgomery Scott announced the expansion of its capital markets business unit, with the hiring of four senior level professionals to its public finance, institutional fixed income and institutional equity sales departments.

Craig Fertel, director of taxable fixed income sales, re-joins Janney from Bell Rock Capital, and will work out of Janney’s Philadelphia corporate headquarters.
