JPMorgan Chase Appoints Yan Cui and Steve Clayton

JPMorgan Chase announced the formal operation of a branch in Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. As the sixth branch the US financial service firm opened in the Chinese mainland and with Yan Cui, a veteran that has over 16 years of experience in banking, as president, the newborn will provide various of wholesale financial products and services, including cash management, trade financing, loans, foreign exchange and risk management.

JPMorgan Chase also announced that it has named Steve Clayton as its new country officer and managing director for Malaysia. In his new role based in Kuala Lumpur, Steve will lead the strategic development of JP Morgan’s overall franchise in Malaysia, partnering closely with the local and regional leadership teams to ensure the consistent delivery of the bank’s global platform across all businesses to its clients in the country. JPMorgan Chase Announces Management Appointments

JPMorgan Chase announced that Jimmy Elliott, a 14-year veteran of JPMorgan, will become global chairman of mergers and acquisitions. Elliott has served as head of JPMorgan’s global M&A practice for more than five years. He has advised such clients as Duke Energy, Sanofi-Aventis and Exxon.

Jim Woolery joins from Cravath, Swaine & Moore as co-head of North America M&A with Chris Ventresca.

The investment bank also will revamp its health care practice, naming Jeff Stute as head of JPMorgan’s North America health care coverage group.

In addition, Robbie Huffines will become vice chairman of investment banking.

Elliott, Woolery, Ventresca, Stute and Huffines will report to Jeffrey Urwin and Kevin Willsey, co-heads of investment banking in the U.S. and Canada.

Seattle Foundation announced that it has hired former Seattle Mayor Norm Rice as its new president and chief executive. His tenure at the community foundation will start July 6, 2009. Rice replaces Phyllis Campbell who left the foundation in April to become JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s chairman of the Pacific Northwest.

JPMorgan Chase Appoints Shaun Parkes

JPMorgan Chase has appointed Shaun Parkes in the newly created position of head of worldwide securities services for Asia excluding Japan. Mr. Parkes relocates from JPMorgan London where he was global head of depositary receipt sales and client management. Reporting to Laurence Bailey, Asia-Pacific CEO for JPMorgan Worldwide Securities Services, Mr. Parkes will join the existing regional management team comprising three sub-regional heads: Jane Perry in Australia, Roger Brown in Japan, and Ravikanth Konteti in India. JPMorgan Chase & Co’s transition management business has announced that it has expanded the global team, added additional fixed income capabilities and conducted one of the largest ever transitions while experiencing record flows. JPMorgan Chase & Co. announced the appointment of Mr. Jahangir Aziz as chief economist for the firm’s Indian operations. JPMorgan Chase & Co. Appoints Norma Corio

JPMorganJPMorgan Chase & Co. tapped Norma Corio, a 26-year veteran of the firm, as its treasurer. Corio was most recently head of restructuring in the investment banking division. In her new role, Corio will report to executive vice president Don McCree and join chief financial officer Michael Cavanagh’s finance leadership team. She will manage the firm’s capital, balance sheet, liquidity and funding.

As head of restructuring, Corio worked on the workouts of GMAC Financial’s Residential Capital and Chrysler. Corio replaces Mark Kleinman, who left JPMorgan in June to join hedge fund Marathon Asset Management. Mary Ellen Egbert will take over as head of restructuring and report to Andy O’Brien and Jim Casey, co-heads of leveraged finance.

In other JPMorgan personnel news, Dheeraj Verma, an executive director and power M&A banker, departed last week to join private equity firm Quantum Energy Partners, a source familiar with the situation confirmed with IDD. Verma will step into his new role as head of power investments at Quantum, which has offices in Houston and Albany, Texas, in October.
