Nomura Holdings Appoints Vishal Sodha

Vishal Sodha has been appointed to become managing director in charge of credits and illiquid sales at Nomura Holdings. He will assume the new role at Nomura in June.

Sodha, who last served as Asian credit sales head at the Swiss bank, will now be responsible for loans, bonds and distressed debt sales in the Asia-Pacific at the Japanese firm. He will report to Asian fixed-income sales heads Samir Bhandari and George Sun.

Nomura Holdings announced the appointment of several senior positions in its Asia-Pacific equities franchise.

Jean El Khoury, currently head of equity derivatives trading for Asia-Pacific, has been named head of equity trading for Asia ex-Japan.

Nomura Holdings Appoints Michael Kurtz

Nomura Holdings has appointed Michael Kurtz as chief Asia equity strategist, based in Hong Kong.

Kurtz joins as a managing director and will work closely with the firm’s economists, country strategists and sector heads to publish regional Asia equity strategy as well as Nomura’s Conviction List reports. With over 15 years experience in the industry, and 10 of those years working on equity strategy in Asia, he is well placed to provide clients with key strategy ideas and direction for their investment portfolios.

Stephen Cunningham, Carl Mayer, Thomas Fiato, Nicholas Forsa, Douglas MacKenzie, Jamie Brodsky and Shirley Elliott Join Nomura Holdings

Nomura Holdings announced the appointment of five managing directors across industry and product groups.

Stephen Cunningham joins Nomura as head of Latin America investment banking, reporting to James DeNaut. Cunningham was most recently head of corporate finance and M&A for Latin America at Deutsche Bank and has more than 20 years of M&A and capital raising experience in Latin America.

Carl Mayer joins as head of leveraged finance in the Americas, reporting to DeNaut. Mayer holds in excess of 20 years experience and his latest role was as head of leveraged finance at Citadel.

Thomas Fiato joins as COO for corporate finance and will report to DeNaut. Fiato previously worked at Deutsche Bank for six years and held a similar role there. Before joining Deutsche Bank, he was at Goldman Sachs for 15 years also in an industry coverage management role.

Nicholas Forsa joins Nomura’s consumer retail /M&A group to focus on covering and advising clients in the retail sectors. He will report to Greg Fatzinger, head of the consumer banking group. Prior to joining Nomura, Forsa was most recently a senior banker in Deutsche Bank’s M&A and corporate advisory group.

Douglas MacKenzie has joined the Americas senior management team as COO for the global finance JV in the Americas, reporting to Philippe Dufournier and DeNaut. Mackenzie has more than 20 years of industry experience and previously worked at Goldman Sachs, Wasserstein Perella and Morgan Stanley where he was most recently head of the global energy group.

Nomura Holdings has named Steve Kilcullen as the head of flow derivative sales, leading the firm’s equity options business as a producer and manager.

Nomura Holdings announced the appointment of Prabhat Awasthi as head of its equities operations in India. He will replace Pankaj Vaish.

Awasthi will report to co-heads of Asia Pacific equities, John Adair and Paul Dolan.

Awasthi, who joined the Japanese brokerage from Lehman Brothers nearly three years ago, was previously in charge of equity research at Nomura, a role he had served since October 2008.

Nomura Holdings announced that it has named Pierpaolo Di Stefano as managing director, head of investment banking for Italian corporates.

Nomura Holdings announced that Tarun Jotwani has been promoted to executive vice president and head of global markets.

Jotwani will lead both fixed income and equities under a fully integrated capital markets platform, setting strategy, prioritizing resources and driving sustainable and profitable growth for all global markets businesses across all regions. Nomura Holdings Appoints Ramin Shayesteh, Kevin Cummings, Bashar Al Damiri and Amin Kirdar

Nomura Holdings has announced four new senior appointments to its Middle East and Africa (MEA) fixed income team.

Ramin Shayesteh, who joins as managing director, will head Nomura’s Middle East and Africa sales for financial institutions and sovereign wealth funds. He will be based in London.

Shayesteh was previously at Barclays Capital where he was head of Middle East and Africa sales and spent the last 12 years establishing significant client relationships and product offerings.

Kevin Cummings, who joins as executive director, will spearhead the structured solutions group for the region.

Nomura Appoint Nipun Goel, Nitin Jain, and Jai Rajpal

Nomura has appointed Nipun Goel as head of investment banking and Nitin Jain as co-head of fixed income in India.

Neeraj Gambhir, who is currently the head of Nomura`s credit business in India, will co-head the fixed income business along with Jain.

Goel joins from Merrill Lynch India, where he spent 14 years.

Nipun has wide experience in capital markets, both on equities and debt, corporate finance, client coverage and origination across several sectors.
